Editorial – Journey of a Thousand Miles…

I am happy to welcome all the members of Indian Academy of Oral Medicine and Radiology (IAOMR) to read the first issue of 2018; with this issue, we have completed a journey of 32 years. Since the founding of the journal, it has been sparkling green due to the seeds sown by the past editors. I will make my best efforts for uplifting the Journal into in a rapidly changing and exciting field of Oral Medicine and Radiology.

The foremost objective in the constitution of IAOMR is to endeavor and develop higher standards in the teaching and practice of Oral Medicine, Oral Diagnosis, Maxillofacial Radiology and Imaging Sciences. The Editorial board strives to focus on developing the journal in way that it fulfills both constitutional expectations as well as the expectations of IAOMR members. For achieving new horizons in JIAOMR and meeting the challenges ahead will require the support and involvement of the members. The journal also needs articles from international authors, which is not possible, as the first author has to be a life member of IAOMR to publish in the Journal. As said in ancient Indian literature “आ नो भद्रा: क्रतवो यन्तु विश्वत:” Let noble thoughts come to us from every corner of universe (Rig Veda, I‑89‑I). We should not restrict and control the flow of knowledge and research. We also feel the imperative need of innovative and original research work to improve the quality of the journal.

The Editorial team invites you to submit your most exciting work as author and to serve as reviewers when invited to do so. Reviewer engagement is the most important component in a robust and fair review process to which the journal is committed. Journal committee is agreed to include new categories in the journal to allow more active and meaningful discussion on various topics related to Oral Medicine and Radiology. We will make best efforts to develop more open, collaborative, and explorative discussions through publications to better understand the different clinical and diagnostic aspects of the diseases of maxillofacial region.
